Tyler: Model 005 Shading Update

New shading techniques have been implemented to give more depth and detail to Tyler: Model 005.

As Tyler: Model 005 is a game based around scale i needed to make sure that textures stayed sharp and crisp, using parallax occlusion mapping (POM) i have been able to add 3D surfaces to flat faces such as wood grain and brickwork.

Glass shading has also been improved and now uses geometry based retractions giving a more realistic looking glass surface.

The shading improvements sound impressive, especially the use of parallax occlusion mapping for realistic textures. It’s amazing how much detail can transform a game’s atmosphere.
